Design Outsourcing Manager
The primary mission of the Design Outsourcing Manager is to provide support to the creative team by building a network of reliable freelance/contract designers and then coordinate and manage them, as needed. The successful candidate will be a responsible and highly organized individual who can multitask and think on his or her feet. He or she must be articulate and interact professionally with team members, as well as clients and potential customers. The candidate must be able to easily adapt with a proactive work ethic and have a positive, forward-thinking attitude. This role is a collaborative role working closely with the Strategic Creative Director (SCD) and Director of Client Success to ensure effective operation of the department.
Provide an active point of integration with the broader team to enable more effective management and communication as external resources are needed.
Ability to evaluate creative output (conceptual and production) from outsourced talent
Oversee all creative outsourcing needs (concept, production and technical)
Build network of creative talent to pull from as needed
Work with SCD and Vice President to assist in recruitment - both full/part-time and contract, ensure contract agreements are in place, negotiate on rates, deadlines ,etc.
Work with SCD and VP to ensure key metrics are met. (utilization, budgeted hours, etc.)
Collaborate with PMs to ensure there are enough resources for the given work at any time and collaborate using the resource management system
Assist SCD and VP in the management of resource forecasting and balancing
As required, assist with the completion of RFP’s, including task management of workflow and completion of data and layout.
Demonstrated ability to source and coordinate outsourced design talent.
Very strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of professionals, both internally and externally. Strong organizational skills with proven history of managing multiple, ongoing assignments.
Pragmatic, positive and practical approach that translates into day-to-day working relationships to sustain a collaborative team environment.
Ability to challenge status quo to achieve greater results with team.
Ability to proactively seek instruction, feedback and coaching to develop and improve performance.
Willingness to participate actively in knowledge-sharing and/or training activities within the team, developing and communicating standard practices, within formal and informal networks.
Proficient with office software including Google suite, Adobe and social media web platforms with the ability to learn new technology quickly.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (spec. InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator) preferred. Specifically the ability to QC production artwork.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, creative environment
Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response
3+ years of experience in a creative firm working with outsourced design talent, Associate’s Degree or High School diploma required, or BA/BS strongly preferred.
